A low beam is one of the lamps belonging to the headlamp, which illuminates the lower front. This is also called a 'low beam' or 'dipped beam.' Low beams are usually turned on to ensure forward visibility when driving at night. A high beam is the other lamp that comprises a headlamp. It is also called an upper beam. It can illuminate a greater distance than a low beam, but the angle of the beam is high and can obstruct the view of other vehicle drivers. Therefore, a high beam is recommended only when the low beam cannot secure a clear vision or when a driver needs to give a quick warning. For this reason, the 'High Beam Assist (HBA)' function is becoming more popular, automatically switching to low beam when a vehicle is in front. Furthermore, the 'Intelligent Front-lighting System (IFS)' technology is developed, which partially illuminates the area of the other car and secures the driver's front sight without obstructing the driver in front.
