SEOUL, October 6, 2026 – Hyundai Motor Group (the Group) today announced the opening of ‘Have Fun with Science,’ a free experiential science exhibition developed in collaboration with the Exploratorium, San Francisco’s world-renowned museum of science, art and human perception.
Running from October 6 to December 15 at Hyundai Motorstudio Seoul, the exhibition features 12 interactive experiences and invites visitors to experiment with fundamental scientific principles, including movement, ecology, light and sound. It gives visitors in Korea the opportunity to experience hands-on science ahead of the Group’s planned experiential science museum, which is scheduled to open in 2032 at the Global Business Complex (GBC), the future landmark development project by Hyundai Motor Group at the core of Seoul’s vibrant Gangnam Business District.
The exhibition builds on the strategic partnership the Group established with the Exploratorium in April 2026. It is designed to gather visitor comments and reactions to help inform the development of content for the Group’s new science museum.
“The experiential science museum planned for GBC is being developed to foster curiosity and help create a new foundation for science education. As part of this process, we are sharing elements of the museum throughout its development and listening closely to feedback from visitors. We hope more people will have the opportunity to experience hands-on science content, spark their curiosity about science and discover the joy of creative exploration.” – Sungwon Jee, Executive Vice President and Head of Hyundai Motor Group Brand Experience
The Group and the Exploratorium share a belief that curiosity, creativity and hands-on learning can inspire new ways of understanding the world.
Located at Pier 15 on San Francisco’s Embarcadero, the Exploratorium was founded in 1969 by physicist Frank Oppenheimer. It pioneered a hands-on approach to science education, based on the belief that people learn science by doing rather than simply observing.
Visitors are encouraged to touch exhibits, conduct experiments and discover scientific principles for themselves. Welcoming nearly 750,000 visitors each year, the Exploratorium is recognized as a leading model for science education and has influenced interactive science museums worldwide. This expertise underpins its long-term partnership with the Group as the two organizations work toward the planned experiential science museum at GBC.
“Prototyping is foundational to how we develop experiences, and we're excited to bring these exhibits to the community — to learn from them, and with them, as we shape the future museum.” – Anne Richardson, Chief Experience Officer at the Exploratorium
Located on the fifth floor of Hyundai Motorstudio Seoul, ‘Have Fun with Science’ is an experiential pop-up exhibition that enables visitors to explore science through direct participation.
Building on the science pop-up exhibition held at Hyundai Motorstudio Goyang in 2024, ‘Have Fun with Science’ was designed to gather insights from visitors and reflect them in the development of future exhibition content ahead of the opening of the Group’s planned experiential science museum at GBC in 2032.
Its 12 hands-on exhibits include:
Together, the exhibits create a space where visitors can discover the enjoyment of science naturally through experimentation, observation, and cooperation.
Three activity programs using electrical circuits and electronic devices will also allow visitors to connect circuits and explore the principles of electricity.
A Scribbling Machine, available through both pre-registration and on-site registration, will allow participants to build and operate a drawing device powered by rotational motion, combining engineering concepts with artistic expression.
Visitors can enjoy all exhibits and activity programs free of charge by registering for a Hyundai Motorstudio membership.
On the evening of October 6, the exhibition will host Spin the Night, a special opening event for adult visitors, including members of science museum communities and Hyundai Motorstudio Seoul membership customers. Extending the idea of ‘spin’ into physical, visual and sensory experiences, the event will invite guests to see everyday life in new ways and explore the science hidden within it.
Highlights of the event will include the Science of Cocktails, where guests can enjoy cocktails accompanied by scientific explanations and the Take Apart program, which will allow participants to disassemble everyday electronic devices and experience science through play and creativity.
The Group will invite a range of science and creative communities in Korea to participate, building a broader network for collaboration. It will also analyze comments and reactions gathered from visitors and use the feedback to refine the content and operating approach for its future experiential science museum at GBC.
